What is a Seamless Pipe?
Seamless pipes are derived from solid steel that is in sheet or bar form and is formed into a solid round shape known as “billets” which are then heated and cast over a form such as a piercing rod to create a hollow tube or shell. Alloy200 is a solution strengthened, commercially pure forging material with good mechanical properties over a wide temperature range and excellent resistance to many corrosive agents, especially hydroxides. Alloy200 is modified to control carbon (0.02 max.) so that it will not be embrittled by intergranular precipitates in many processes at temperatures from 600 ° f to 1400 ° F. Generally, the element limits of nickel200 and nickel201 are combined into a double certified chemical to obtain a single alloy nickel200 / 201 with the required alloy properties.
